Lookup Green County Inmate Records

Green County inmate records are split across jail custody, Wisconsin VINE, public-record requests, state corrections, and court case systems. A Green County jail roster search does not run through a public county web roster because no official online Green County roster was located in county sources. To look up Green County inmates, start with the jail information line for current custody, use VINE for notification, request booking records from the Sheriff's Office, and check state or federal locators only when the person has moved out of local jail custody.

Green County Jail Search Options

Green County inmate records begin with the Green County Jail, operated by the Green County Sheriff's Office. Sheriff Cody D. Kanable submitted the 2024 annual report after taking office in 2024, and that report says the jail receives in-custody offenders from all municipalities in the county. The Sheriff's Office also operates dispatch and emergency management. Current jail custody is therefore a countywide question, not a separate city roster question.

No official Green County online jail roster, current-inmate search page, booking report, or public mugshot gallery was located in the Green County sources reviewed. The county FAQ directs custody questions to the jail information line at 608-328-9598 or to the Communication Center and Sheriff's Office at 608-328-9400. That phone path is the main official route for current Green County Jail custody. The Green County VINE page and VINELink Wisconsin add custody notification, but they do not create a full booking file.

Find Green County Jail Inmates

The Green County jail inmate lookup path is a fallback chain. Use the jail phone line first for current custody, then VINE for release or transfer alerts, then the public-record request process for booking documents or photos. For charges after an arrest, use WCCA because the court file begins after the District Attorney files charges. For sentenced state prisoners, the correct search is Wisconsin DOC, not Green County Jail.

  1. Call the jail information line at 608-328-9598 and ask whether the person is currently housed at Green County Jail.
  2. If routing is needed, call the Sheriff's Office or Communication Center at 608-328-9400.
  3. Provide the person's full name, date of birth or approximate age, arrest date, arresting agency, and any case or warrant number.
  4. Ask whether the person is still in jail, released, transferred, boarded in another county, moved to DOC, or held for court.
  5. Use VINE for automated Wisconsin county jail custody notification if release or transfer alerts are needed.
  6. Search WCCA for filed court charges once a Green County criminal case exists.

Green County does not publish an official web refresh rate because there is no public web roster. A recent arrest may be confirmed by phone before a court case appears online. The opposite can also happen: an older WCCA case can remain visible after the person is no longer in jail.

Green County Inmate Record Fields

Green County official sources did not provide a sample public inmate profile. That prevents any claim that the county roster displays booking numbers, mugshots, housing units, charges, or bond amounts online. The table shows where each type of inmate record detail may be confirmed or requested.

County State Federal Custody

Search failures often happen because the wrong system is being used. Green County Jail is for local custody. Wisconsin DOC is for sentenced state-prison custody and supervision. BOP is for federal prison. ICE is for immigration detention. WCCA is a court case system, not a jail roster, but it is the best public source for filed Green County criminal charges after an arrest.

Green County Jail Facility

Green County has one facility page for local inmate records: Green County Jail. The jail is part of the Sheriff's Office complex and serves the county's cities, villages, and towns. Official sources identify no separate local city jail roster, no Wisconsin DOC prison in Green County, and no federal or ICE detention facility in the county.

Green County Booking Process

The 2024 Sheriff's Office Annual Report gives unusually clear booking detail. Jail deputies booked 617 inmates in 2024, and the average booking process took about 90 minutes. Booking entails photographing, fingerprinting, medical and mental-health assessment, and intake demographics. Jail rules also explain that money is turned over at booking and deposited into the inmate account, and inmates or cells may be searched under jail rules.

After intake, classification determines housing. Green County must separate inmates by security level, sex, medical isolation, and detention status. The jail houses maximum-security prisoners awaiting trial or without work-release privileges, medium-security prisoners, and minimum-security inmates sentenced with Huber work release. A court or agency hold may also keep a person in custody even when a bond issue is resolved.

Green County Jail Visits

Green County Jail uses video visitation for personal visits. The county states that face-to-face personal visits are not allowed for safety, security, and efficiency. Remote visitation is available through Reliance Telephone. On-site video visitation uses two booths at the jail, and each inmate receives one free on-site visit per week per visitor. Non-attorney visits are recorded and monitored, and visits may be cancelled without notice for safety, security, or operational needs.

Mail Money and Records

Green County allows only handwritten or typed letters and money through mail. Books, magazines, and puzzle books from bookstores, publishers, or private sellers require prior jail sergeant approval. Items from home addresses are not accepted. Stickers and decorative stamps are removed and discarded. Cards, drawings, and Polaroids go to property, with a black-and-white photocopy possibly given to the inmate.

Money orders may be mailed to Green County Jail. The Stellar Teller in the Sheriff's Office inner lobby accepts cash and Mastercard or VISA credit cards with fees. JailATM is the online deposit vendor linked by the county. Commissary orders are placed Tuesday nights and delivered Wednesdays except holidays. If a released person does not receive an order, the jail rules say the commissary is held seven days before disposal unless pickup is arranged.

Green County Records Requests

For booking records that are not online, use the Sheriff's Office public-record request form. The form is addressed to Green County Sheriff's Office, 2827 6th Street, P.O. Box 473, Monroe, WI 53566. Records requests can be made Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The office says each request is reviewed and processed as quickly as possible, but a response may take 10 to 14 days depending on the request type.

Fees can apply. The form lists a $5.00 minimum for a record check plus $0.25 per page, a $4.00 accident report fee for a four-page report plus additional copy fees, $16.00 for audio on CD or DVD, $8.00 for a photo CD, USB fees by size, and email or fax charges. Pending incident reports generally are not released without a court order or Green County District Attorney permission.

Note: Confirm current custody with Green County Jail before sending money, scheduling a visit, or requesting time-sensitive booking records.
